I practice from a narrative therapy lens which holds that the person is not the problem; the problem is the problem. Many of us carry burdens of stories and belief systems. My job first and foremost is to witness your story and to help you disentangle from hurtful narratives. Life can be full of struggles, and I believe that we do the best we can under our circumstances. We all know that the world outside of the therapy room can be difficult and painful. I strive to offer a safe and supportive setting for each client to be who they are as they are. I believe that healing occurs best in connection with others when we are able to be most fully ourselves. When we are able to accept and offer grace to the myriad aspects of who we are, we are in turn able to offer this to others. Because therapy happens on average once a week, I consider it also my mission to explore with clients ways to tap into the many things outside of the therapist room that can be therapeutic. Fred Rogers famously said, “Find the Helpers.” This may be friends, neighbors, nature, art, poetry, and also many creative parts of our own selves – to cultivate whenever we are able to the aspects of life that allow us to be most fully ourselves and allows for a reciprocity of giving and receiving. I enjoy working with clients to illuminate unique creative attributes, interests, and visions. My practice is affirming and accepting.
With families, I aim to facilitate communication, understanding, and support. Ultimately, I believe therapy can be a place to grow; to find yourself and your voice.
Therapeutic modales I used most often include narrative therapy, IFS, ACT, CBT, and DBT. For more on this, feel free to nafigate to "therapietuc modale" section. I tend to tailor my approach to each client and situation. I check in regularly with my clients about the approaches I am using to ensure that we are moving in a direction that feels most valuable for each client.
